Plague Hounds WIP

Here are a quick WIP photo of some beasts to go with my Plague Mutans from my last post. I like them so far, so there will probably be 7 more in the near future.

Thanks for looking!

Plague Mutants

MUTANTS!

Most of the mutants where based on the Goblin Town goblins from GW's The Hobbit range. I really like to convert these models. They are among the most Nurgleish looking models GW has ever made. Even more so than many of GW's Nurgle models! The few heads that where used, where the severed heads from GWs Blight Kings.
By adding some additional details, I made them look more infected by Nurgles many horrible deceases. The lumps was made by several already dry balls of any sculpting putty I was using at the moment. When finishing a project using green stuff, I often roll small balls of the left over putty for this purpose. To blend the lumps smoothly into the body, I used a lot of thick superglue. I added superglue to the body and dipped it in a bowl filled with the green stuff balls. When the balls had dried in place, I covered them with a second layer of super glue. I sprayed the glue with superglue activator immediately after. This made the glue dry in place, acting like a skin over the lumps, blending them perfectly into the rest of the body. Doing this is a lot more effective than smoothing it all together with green stuff.

Sigmarine WIP

I picked up the latest White Dwarf from Games Workshop toady, and this issue came with a toy surprise; one of the new models from Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The first time I saw the leaked images from the new box, I knew I had to convert them into true-scale Space Marines.

Here are the one i converted from the model in WD. He is possibly the first of many, since I'll most likely buy Age of Sigmar when it comes out.

Painting the INQ28 Warband.

I've been away for a couple of weeks, and haven't been able to update the blog for a little while. I have however started to paint my Inquisitorial warband while I was away. I've decided to paint the miniatures in a pale colour scheme, with a bright read spot colour.
This is what I've done so far. The first two are finished, and the next three just need some detail work.

Here are some pictures of my Lord Inquisitor Hannibal Rex pre painting. The model is currently primed, and ready for paint!

I'll be back.

More INQ28 WIPs

I've been working on more models for my INQ28 warband. Most Importantly the leader of the warband; Lord Inquisitor Hannibal Rex. This is another version of a model i did a while ago, my inquisitor lord on walking throne. I wanted to be able to use the same character in a game, so i decided to make the same inquisitor, only dismounted. I have given him the same torso and hairstyle, with mechanical legs to show how he walks around without the throne.

I also made a grim reaper looking tech-priest, with a pet crow and plasma gun servitor. I'm quite pleased with his relaxed creepy pose on this guy.

Lastly I made a Herald, for my Khorne Daemonkin army.

INQ28 WIP

In the last couple of days I've been working on a warband for INQ28. The goal is to build and paint a warband, and a matching gaming board, so I'll be able to play a game during the summer.

I have a lot of ideas, and early WIP models on my desk, that will be finished soon. Here are the models I've done so far.

Plaguebearer Snails

Before saturday, I managed to convert and paint another entry for the Fang. I decided to join the Warhammer regiment category, with some heavily converted Plaguebearers. All the models are based on the original Plaguebearers, one is however base on an old metal daemon, and another on a Forge World daemon. I gave them all snail tails, instead of their legs, made from greenstuff. The shells on their backs are from real snails, found on a beach.

I'm really happy with the resolute, and they got 2nd in their category.

The Beast & Great Unclean One update

I have a quick update for you now.
The Beast is finished very soon, I only have to fix the canisters on its back, and some other details.

The Great unclean One is also coming along nicely!

Inquisitorial Beast WIP part III

I've done some more painting on the beast. Just a couple of touch-ups, and some details left. I still need to base the model though. Any thoughts on the subject?

Inquisitorial Beast WIP

I just finished converting and priming my main entry for the Scandinavian painting competition, The Fang. The project started out as a Bloodthirter, but ended up as some crazy inquisitorial weapon project. I'm especially happy with the "driver" hanging on from the monsters back. The idea being an imperial psyker controlling the beast and driving it in the right direction.

The painting competition is the 30th of may, so you can expect updates soon.

Tutorial: Nurgle eyes (for bases)

I was asked how I did the Nurgle eyes on the models base, when posting my second photoshoot of my Great Unclean One . Recently I re-based my old Plague Ogryns, and decided to give their bases some Nurgle-looking eyes as well.

I took some pictures while making the bases, to make a quick tutorial on how I do my Nurgle bases:

I. Roll a lot of small balls in some kind of sculpting putty. I use green-stuff or milliput, depending on which putty i'm working on at the moment. Usually i just roll a couple of eye-balls with the left overs when i'm done sculpting.

I then make a base and randomly glue them on. be careful not to glue them where the model is supposed to stand.

II. Paint the base like the rest of your army. This base was painted like the World Eaters bases, but with some green and sepia glazes to give them a more Nurgle look.

III. Start painting the eyes white.

Then pick out irises with different colours. I randomly pick out the irises with red, green and blue. It's important that the iris is the correct size, if they're too big, it won't look like eyes anymore, and if they're too small, they will be covered by the pupils.

paint the pupil by adding a small black circle in the middle of the iris.

IV. GW's "blood for the blood god" is painted on the bottom half of the eyes. Try to make this look natural by not having a straight line around the eye. Stipple some blood on the ground around the eyes to blend them with the base.

Finish of the eyes with a layer of water effect (or any other transparent gloss paint).
