Dark Imperium: Foetid Bloat Drone

My version of the Foetid Bloat Drone from Dark Imperium is of course based on the Foetid Bloat drone. I'm not the biggest fan of the original miniature, so I had to do a few changes to it. The most important thing to change was the pose. I glued together the main parts of the body and held them over the base, trying to figure out which flying pose I wanted. When I found the pose I liked best, the Drones face was pointing upwards, so I had to replace it. I ended up giving it the head from the Skaven ship from Dreadfleet (you can still see the skaven symbol/scar on the side of the head that I forgot to remove). Now the creature looked a lot like a fish, so I have it fins, using the wings from a Nurgle Plague Drone. The claws are from the same kit.

I painted the Dronething the same way I painted my Poxwalkers (TUTORIAL HERE), washes and glazes over a Corax White undercoat. I also decided to paint the armour black, to contrast the pale flesh. Before I started painting I primed the miniature White, then I covered the flesh with masking tape and sprayed the armour black. The whole miniature was painted in one evening.

The next unit from Dark Imperium will be some black Plague Marines!

Plague Drone

I finally finished my Forge World Blight Drone. This model was a lot of fun to paint. The amount of detail on the model is incredible. The combination of mechanical parts and flesh is a lot more grotesque than other Daemon Engines. Which is perfect for Nurgle. I'm planning to convert a Forge Fiend and a Helldrake in the same style as Forge World did this model. Still not sure how to achieve this, so if anyone has any tips or ideas that could be relevant, feel free to comment.

The models armour was done in the same way I do my World Eaters (check out the tutorial: http://wilhelminiatures.blogspot.no/2015/03/tutorial-heresy-era-world-eater.html) only glazed in GW's Sepia shade. I really like glazing white with sepia. It sometimes gives the model a greenish look, which is perfect for Nurgle Armour.
The skin was done with light human skin-tomes, shaded and glazed with purple to give it a more sickly feel, and to contrast the armour.

Plague Hulk & Plague Drone

It has been too long since I've posted anything on this blog. After Golden Daemon, I've started a lot of new projects, but haven't taken any pictures on them. I've decided to change that during this weekend. There will be a lot of model-updates soon.

I entered Golden Daemon in 2012, in 40k Monster and Vehicle category which these two Daemon Engines. It' over two years sine I painted these models, so i feel it's about time to post them here.

The skin-tone on both Daemon Engines are painted in the same way, it consists of a lot of green and bone-coloured drybrushing, and a dark green oil-wash on top. This was long before I got my airbrush, so they don't look as good as my Forge World Great Unclean One. I like them a lot non the less. FW's big Nurgle models are all some of my favourite GW models. I hope GW's Maggoth Lords are as fun to paint.
