I've been a bit slow starting this project, but here's my first finished miniature for Tor Megiddo.
The vast deserts on Tor Megiddo is the home to all sorts of mutants and strange creatures. Abalone Mutants were once sea creatures, but chaos has speed up the evolution and turned them into something else. When the great Tor Megiddo oceans dried up, a few creatures survived by hiding in the enormous sewer systems under the cities. They only come out at night, to hunt...
This miniature was based on a Crypt Horror and a real snail shell. The legs are from a Nurgle Plague Drone, and the head is taken from a FW chaos spawn.
I'm planning to make a smaller version of this kind of creature, based on a Bloodletter and Tyranid parts. If I have time I'll also make a small terrain piece to go with the mutants, some kind of tunnel opening to the sewers.
Brilliant and creepy!

DeleteA truly awesome creature! Great design and fitting paintjob.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
DeleteNicely nightmarish creature. I like the use of the snail shell. 😉
ReplyDeleteCheers! Snail shells are good for many things :)
DeleteHi ! Very inspirational , awesome and with a very creppy Dali's elephats with insect legs artworks vibe ...But I'm a question to you..Did you prepare the snail shell in any way? Just clean / and painted? Nowadays I'm in a sea town for holydays and I would like to use shells for basing etc thanks and congrstulations
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteNo, I didn't prepare the shell in any way. It was already dry and clean, from the beach. If you find any very porous shells, or shells damaged by salt water, its probably smart to apply a layer of white glue before priming and painting.
Thanks a lot for your answer! I will add white glue, thanks for the suggestion and congrats for your miniatures!

DeleteFantastic build & paint-job! Very gribbly.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
DeleteThat is insanely cool. Hat's off to you sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
DeleteI think he's terrific. The use of the sea shell is inspired, and the way that you've positioned him to be striding forwards really marks him out as a hunter. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the little robot arm, which feels a bit out of place. Anyway, it's a great model.

ReplyDeleteI can only agree with all the others: This is insanely creative and extremely creepy! It actually reminds me of some of the very early character sketches from Bioshock, when the team were still going for a mutated sealife vibe.
ReplyDeleteThe one part that seems a little off to me, however, is the small bionic arm, as it seems kind of random to me.
But anyway, what a fantastic model! Keep up the amazing work!

Cheers! I haven't seen these sketches, but I love the Bioshock atmosphere, so now I have to look :)
DeleteI think the bionic arm makes the miniature more interesting. It gives you more questions about the origin of the beast. Is it evolution, chaos, or made by the Tech-Priests that lived on Tor Megiddo before its fall.
Awersome! can we gen an inside on the way you made the base? cheers form spain!
ReplyDeleteYou did an awsome work. I like the idea of using the shell so much. May I ask how you did the base. The base was not mentioned before. I think it is a very stunning work.
