WIP: Betrayal at Calth boxed set

When the Betrayal at Calth boxed game came out, I felt it was about time to get back to my Horus Heresy World Eater army. While waiting for the box, I kit-bashed a gladiator themed veteran of some kind. I think he will be the sergeant of my rampagers, if they're allowed to have this weapon combination. I'm not sure, but he will at least be a sergeant of some kind. The torso and right arm are from the Blood Reavers in the Age of Sigmar box, the shield is an ogre belly protector (or whatever the metal things on their bellies are), and the rest are some FW bits I had laying around. I'm quite pleased with this one, so I think there will be a squad of similar looking models for him to lead.

I also made a pair Contemptor Dreadnoughts. I forgot to photograph them before priming, so that are quite dark, but you get the idea.

When I got the Betrayal at Calth set, I started to play around with the bits, and made myself a squad of Destroyers. What really annoys me with the box, is that they all have GW's classic Space Marine poses. No running poses, and only one pair of arms able to hold two separate weapons every ten models. This probably works with most legions, but not World Eaters. I want my army to be running towards their enemy, waving their chainaxes around.
Even though they look a bit too relaxed for my taste, the destroyers turned out alright. A thing that is quite great with the set, is that you get a lot of the MKIV helmets with the breathing stripes pointing downwards. These helmets look a lot angrier than the regular ones, which make them work great in my army.

Lastly I made some changes on the Praetor that came with the box. I'm not sure if lightning claws are the best choice game wise, but he looks mean, which is more important.

Great Unclean One in Warhammer Visions 22

Pictures from the Scandinavian  painting competition; The Fang, was featured in this months Warhammer Visions, and my entry was among them! I was quite pleased with the Great Unclean One I painted last year, so I'm extremely happy to see it featured in Visions. FW's Great Unclean One, is by far my favourite Warhammer model. I actually have two of them in my collection, and thought this was a fitting time to post some new photos of the pair.

My favourite part on this model, must be the huge axe. Note the clockwork gears inside of the rusty weapon.

Armies on Parade 2015

I just came back from Armies on parade 2015 in GW Oslo. Luckily I managed to complete the army in time. But I didn't have time to take pictures of the newest units before the competition. The army will be on display at the GW store for about a month, but I'll photograph the units individually when I collect it, and post them here. There were a lot of great entries this year, so I'm very happy that I got 3rd place.

While you wait for some proper pictures of the army, you can check out the ones from the event, or see it live, if you happen to be at GW Oslo.

Lord Inquisitor Hannibal Rex

The leader of my Imperial warband for Armies on Parade, Lord Inquisitor Hannibal Rex is complete. I finished painting him a couple of weeks agh, but didn't manage to get any proper photos of him before now.

Armies on Parade is only 5 days away! So you can expect more updates soon. There will at least be a post, containing the whole army and the display board, on saturday.

WIP: Painting the Kastelan Robots

I just started painting the robots. Using the hairspray weathering technique, I chipped away the black paint, showing the red underneath. The thought was to have the robots black, but really weathered. So I went with a strong contrast on the weathering, that also made them fit better into the rest of the army. Therefore I chose red, which is the main colour of the army. The red underneath can be the colour of the robots previous allegiance, or some weird form of rust or corrosion. I'm not yet sure what the red is supposed to be, but I like it so far!

WIP: Kastelan Robots

I made a couple of Kastelan Robots for my Armies on Parade army. A quick head swap with FW's Thallax Cohort made them more evil looking, which fits my army a lot better. I'm looking forwards to painting these guys.

Electro Priests

The Electro Priests are Painted! I'm quite happy with the way they turned out.

The leader is based on FW's Renegade Militia psyker, wile the rest are based on fantasy Flagellants. I'm pleased that they fit so well together at a unit, the psyker doesn't stand out too much. If you have any questions about the painting or converting, feel free to ask!
