The two first members of the Genestealer Cult is nearing completion! I've decided to go with a bright orange and sepia colour scheme. The Cult is made up from prisoners/slaves on a mining planet. The orange jumpsuits they wear under the space suit are supposed to give a classic prison look. I also based the scheme on the colours of Soviet space suits (like the one worn by Yuri Gagarin) from the 60s.
Beautiful paint job!

DeleteIt's a great start, the colour scheme works perfectly with the theme. I really like the head of the top guy and the pages of the book are bang on for this scale
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them! I'm especially pleased with the book and the face of the one on the top, so it's very nice that you pointed it out.
DeleteI'm not too happy with the face of the other one. I think I experimented with a bit too many layers, and not thinning the paint enough, obscuring some of the details in his face.
Awesome !!!!!

DeleteBeautiful work, man! The orange looks fantastic and I'm really digging the sepia armor sections - What is the recipe, if you don't mind sharing?
ReplyDeleteThe orange and sepia was actually quite easy to paint. I glazed GW shades over a white undercoat, followed by some edge highlights. I'm going to post a tutorial on how I paint the Cult when I have done a few more, and when I have some step by step pictures.
DeleteWas there ever a tutorial posted? Was wondering what oranges/sepia was used here, looks great
