Risi Vortapt, part III: The Warlord Titan

Hello all!

I finished the centrepiece for my Nurgle Titanicus Legion just before Christmas; the Warlord Titan. I have another Warlord and a Reaver Titan that I still don't know what to do with. What do you think? Should I make more Nurgle miniatures, or should I try making something for another Chaos God/Legion? I think it would be cool with a Reaver for the Nurgle Legion, but another Warlord might be a bit much.
When I did the advent calendar on Instagram last year, I noticed that my Slaanesh miniatures were quite popular. Maybe I should try making a Slaanesh Warlord Titan?

I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything here for a while. I find it a lot quicker and easier to post pictures on Instagram from my phone, than writing blog-posts from my laptop. I will of course continue posting here. But I think the posts here will mainly be finished projects, like this, or tutorials and such. If you would like to keep up with WIPs of my current projects, I recommend checking out my Instagram.

Risi Vortapt, part I, introduction

Hello, hellohello

A few months ago, me and a few friends started a new project. You might remember a similar thing we did a couple of years ago, called Vortapt IV. If not, you can find the blog posts HERE. Vortapt IV was a game of four players, each controlling a warband dedicated to one of the four gods of Chaos. To make it interesting and chaotic, we made a randomiser (in MatLab), to pair a player with a god. Back then I got Nurgle, and made a warband of pestigors, known as the Black Pox.

As the previous game turned out great, and making the warbands were a lot of fun, we decided to do it again. But this time the game will be at a quite different scale, as we decided to try it out for the new Specialist Game by GW; Titanicus.

Again we used the randomiser to determine who would make a Legion dedicated to which god. This time I also got Nurgle (obviously, because I'm the Nurgle daddy).

Tommy aka Bigbossredskullz got Tzeentch, and he has also started working on his Titan Legion. The other players haven't started working on their warbands yet, but don't worry, the rest of the gods are in good hands.

The miniatures for Titanicus is fantastic! They're really detailed, and they actually have more different poses that knights in 40k scale.
I've decided to take my Nurgle theme in an underwater direction. Submarine and ship-wreck parts have already been used on my conversions. I picture huge rusty robots coming out of the water, dragging ships, fishnets and seaweeds in their wake.
I always thought the FW blightdrone is a really cool miniature, even though it looks a bit like a flying shrimp. However in this case, flying shrimp actually fits the theme I'm going for. I sculpted five blightdrones (or similar daemon engines) for the group.

The first three Knights and one of the blightdrones are done. The rest will follow soon!

The rest of the Drones and the Warlord Titan are almost ready for paint:

Nurgle Giant

I finished this Nurgle Giant last week! It has been on my desk half painted for six months, so it was really nice to finally finish it.

The conversion was quite simple. It's based on a GW Giant (or Aleguzzler Gargant as they are currently called). I sculpted the tentacles and helmet in Greenstuff. The tires on it's shoulders are rubber tires from a toy car. This conversion was very much inspired by the large mutants in the video game RAGE.

I painted this beast like I've painted the rest of my newer Nurgle miniatures; glazes over a white undercoat. On this one I used mostly fleshshade, crimson and orange washes.

The Miniatures of 2017

Hello hello hello!! Happy new year everyone!
2017 was my most creative year so far. I've converted and painted even more miniatures this year than i did in 2016. I hope 2018 will be even better!

January (and the end of 2016)

I started 2017 with the Vortapt IV project, and expanded my Pestigor warband.

February

March

April

In April I turned Robute Gulliman into a Chaos Lord of Malal for AoS28. I also managed to complete several half finished miniatures for Silver Tower and Nestorian Infestation.

May

In May I entered a duel in Golden Daemon and got a finalist pin!

July

My Genestealer Cult for Nestorian Infestation was featured in Blanchitsu in July. I also got my hands on the new 40k starter-box and started a new Nurgle project. I finally got around to paint the Lord of Slaanesh I converted several years ago.

August

In August, September and October I worked on my Tor Megiddo warband. I traveled to Helsinki in October and played an awesome game with several talented hobbyists!

September

October

 November

It was about time GW made some better proportioned Space Marine miniatures. I'll definitely convert some more Primaris Marines in 2018.

December

My AoS28 collection is slowly getting bigger. In 2018 I'm planning to add a Great Unclean One to the group.

Thats it for 2017! My favourite miniature of the year is probably the Abalone Mutant (the thing with claws and a snail shell from August). Which one is your favourite??

Magnus the Red conversion by Rebecca

Hello! I'm Rebecca.

Last time I posted here, I showed you my Armies on Parade entry. You can see it here

This time I'm showing the largest model i made for the Vortapt IV campaing. The model is based on Magnus the red. I didn't really care for the Magnus model, but saw it without armour on a painting tutorial. I think it's really cool that they have sculpted a torso under the armour plates. This is what I wanted to focus on when I made the model. This might look like a crazy conversion, but I haven't really done much more than removing the armour and swapping his arms and head.

I tried a new painting technique on my Magnus. The flesh is done mostly with washes and glazes over a corax white primer.
