Outgard: The King's Champion

My Knight riding a mechanical steed is complete! This turned out to be one of my favourite models in the warband. I was a bit sceptical at first, because the model has some really fancy technology compared to the others. But mounting a Medieval Knight on the robot horse suggests that the people don't understand the technology, even though they have it. Which I think is an important aspect of 40k, and especially the Outgard setting.

The steed is based on Forge World's Mechanicum Vorax Battle-Automata (the robot bugs with miniguns), with a horse head from Tomb Kings. The rider is an old Bretonnia Knight with a Space Marine chest armour, and Gorka Morka mutant legs.

Black Pox part II: More Pestigors

Here are some WIPs of two other Plaguebearer based Pestigors.

This first one has a Genestealer Cult shotgun, Tyranid legs and Wood Elves antlers. I really like its long insectile legs.

This other one have been shared on this blog a long time ago. It has been sitting on my desk for several months, and now I finally got around to continue working on it. The legs have been replaced by longer horse like legs from a Wood Elves steed. It has also gotten a set of antlers to match the other members of the warband .

As I said in the previous post, this project is started by me and three other hobbyists. Rebecca is currently working on her Tzeentch warband. Her leader will be riding this brilliant Dali inspired beaked pig.

Lastly I have a picture of a fun little character by John Blanche. I'm planning to make a miniature based on this creature.

Black Pox part I: Pestigors

Me and three other Norwegian Hobbyists are starting a new INQ28 project. The participants are Tommy (aka Bigbossredskullz), Rebecca, Mikkel and me. We made a program in MatLab that randomly generated one of the Chaos gods to each of us. I got Nurgle!
I was actually hoping to get some of the other Gods this time, because I have done a lot of Nurgle models, and wanted to do something new. But now that I've started, I'm really glad it I got Nurgle after all. It's definitely my favourite of the Chaos Gods.

I have countless naked mutant blobs and daemons, and an army of Nurgle Space Marines. This time I wanted to make something different. I'm also really exited about the new Tzaangors box from GW, and want to convert a couple of models based on them. Because of this I want to make a warband focusing on Abhumans or Beastmen. The first two models I put together are my idea of Pestigors (Nurgle infested Beastmen).

This first one is a regular Pestigor, based on a Plaguebearer with Tyranid legs, a Tom Kings horse head and antlers from the Blight Kings. The model is wielding a chainsaw, based on a FW Solar Auxillia flamer, and a blade form a FW Mechanicum model.

The second Pestigor is mutated into a Centaur. I was inspired by Red Skulls Tzeentch Centaur, and a Slaaneshii one made by John Blanche. I think both of them is based upon the same horse as this one.
This model also features bits from a Plaguebearer, Tomb Kings, Blight Kings and FW Mechanicum. The horse part of the model is a Wood Elves steed.

Some Outgard updates

It's just over a week until the Outgard game! I'm almost finished with the last couple of models for the project.

I practised a little freehand symbol for my Warband on my palette. Even though it was quick and messy, I really liked it and decided to cut it out and save it. Maybe I'll glue it to the top of my transport box.

The housetank is almost done!

Originally I wanted this guy to be a classic Black Knight. But the black looked a bit boring, so I changed it to a rough stippled blue. I used red as a spot colour to tie the Knight in with the rest of the Warband.

A game with Red Skullz and news from Nestorian Infstation and Outgard

It's been a while since I posten any of my own stuff on the blog. I haven't been able to do much modeling and painting since Armies on Parade, but I have a few news I'd like to share with you.

The terrain I've been building for Nestorian Infestation is more or less finished. It has been on my shelf for several months. But I decided to paint a few details, and wash the board before Bigbossredskullz came to my place for a game last week. He has written two battlereports using his new set of rules, a mix of Age of Sigmar and Necromunda. You can read about it on his blog (LINK).

Originally we planned to play a game of Nestorian Infestation. But my Genestealer Cult is currently in England, being photographed for Blanschitsu! Instead we decided to have a classic game of an Inquisitorial warband vs Chaos. He used his fantastic Tzeentch warband, and I used Inquisitor Hannibal Rex and his retinue.

At the moment I'm mainly focusing on the Outgard project. But when the new Genestealer Cult boxes came out, I couldn't resist putting together a few models. Here are two new characters for my prison themed Genestealer Cult:

As I mentiones earlier the Outgard project is my main focus at the moment. The game in Helsinki is just over two weeks away, and I still have a couple of models I have to finish before the event. First up is my tracked wytch hut. When I saw Ana Polanscak's finished chapel, on her blog Gardens of Hecate (LINK), I really wanted to do something similar. Even though I wanted to build a wooden house, I wanted to give it some 40k madness. I decided to make something like Kris Kuxi's Churchtanks, and started to build the house on top of an old Land Raider.

I've also started to paint my Knight for the Outgard Warband. More on this guy will come soon!

I'll be back.

Armies on Parade 2016 by Rebecca

Welcome to the first guest post on this blog who is the winner of this years Armies on Parade competition in Oslo:

Hi, my name is Rebecca and here is my Armies on Parade entry. The building is made off card board boxes, covered in squares of plastic card. The faces you see around it, are different materials. The smaller ones are made by casting doll-faces and angle statues in green-stuff. While the big one it the head of a mannequin, used by hairdressers. I actually had to shave it and cover the top with filler.

The leader of my group is called Matris Magnæ. She is also depicted on the two paintings on the towers. This model is based on a Nurgle Blight King. She has Goblin arms, Plaguebearer legs and a hed from the fat priest from Bretannia's Men at Arms box. Her chair is based on a Plaguedrone with spider legs from the Goblin Spider Riders.

Matris Magnæ's slaves, carrying her luggage as she walks in here garden. They are based on Skaven with Flagellant heads.

The Pig Rider is one of my favourite models in the group. He controls the kingdoms food production and trade with other colonies. The model is based on a plaguebearer with a zombie head. His pig is actually a plastic toy pig from the toy store, with some modifications done to it.

This mode is based on a Blight King. He is the commander of her majesties mutant cyborg army.

Another model based on a Blight King. She is the minister of culture and entertainment.

The final minister is Gregor the XVIth, master of coin. He is based on Festus the Leechlord.

I also converted an Imperial Knight into a walking organ. The civilisation have lived relatively peacefully for centuries, and have no real use for warmachines. The Knights main purpose is to play music and lift heavy objects.

One of the Royal Guards based on a Plaguebearer with Mechannicus legs.

Lastly we have her majesties army of mutants. Because it has been so long since the colony went to war, the army is mostly for show, and practically useless in battle. Together with the Knight they make a good parade. These guys are based on Goblins from GW's Hobbit range. Their heads have been swapped for Space Marine backpack vents.

Thanks for reading! If you would like to see pictures of what I'm currently working on, you can check out my Instagram.
