Mechanical Spider Daemons

I've made some friends for the Daemon from my pale skin tutorial a few weeks back (Link). These are painted in the same way, but I used different glazes on some of them to give the group a little variation. I used less purple on the new ones, and even painted two of them with blue shades instead of the purple skin mix.

All modela are based on Plaguebearers with Ur-Ghul heads. I did a better job greenstuffing over the wounds on their bodies to make them look less in your face Nurgle.

  1. How do you do those fantastic bases?

    1. I start out by adding some cork to make a more interesting basetexture. when this is dry, I apply a thick layer of wood glue followed by sand from a volleyball field where I live. Any type of sand works. Before the glue is dry, I add some patches of thick cracklepaint. The Martianearth from GW works fine.

The base is painted like I've explained in the pale skin tutorial: http://wilhelminiatures.blogspot.no/2016/09/tutorial-painting-pale-skin.html

I also have a tutorial for painting some similar bases here as well: http://wilhelminiatures.blogspot.no/2016/05/tutorial-painting-genestealer-cult-bases.html

    1. Ruststalker legs and arms for the most part. I've also used a skitarii ranger legs on one.

  5. you built more! They are all sorts of awesome/creepy/wouldn't want to mess with them :-) I love the difference between them, not all backwards spiders, but look uniform enough to fit as a group.

    1. Thanks! I think so as well. It's a bit more interesting when they have different poses.

  8. Amazing stuff. Were you inspired by art or something else? It's a brilliant execution. If it's completely from your own mind it's even more impressive... it's singularly original like Geiger's Alien or Blanche's artwork. Really cool style.

    1. Thanks a lot!
These models are not inspired by anything in particular. I just sat down with a pile of bits and came up with this.
Both Blanche and Giger are always great inspirations though.
